Hands on Tokyo

Hands on Tokyo is one of the biggest bilingual volunteering communities in Tokyo.

It is active since 2006, and registered as an NPO in 2009.

Hands on Tokyo provides various volunteer support for children's homes, special needs individuals, people who suffered from the 3.11 Tohoku earthquake, and so on.

The NPO was certified by Tokyo Metropolitan Government as an "Approved Specified Nonprofit Corporation" in 2017.

About

Hands on Tokyo has been playing a key role in terms of community service among English & Japanese-speaking communities in Tokyo for nearly 15 years.

Through its journey, it has also been providing opportunities for young generations to participate in and learn about different social problems in our lives.

High school students engage in volunteer activities by joining youth program, where members discuss social problems and seek for solutions by themselves.

Earlier this year, group of students from ASIJ, ISSH, SMIS, and Hiroo-Gakuen high school discussed to help people who live on the street in Tokyo. Each student assigned themselves for different roles: determining organizations to donate for, organizing fund-raising events, and planning out for usage of the money they raised.

As a result of nearly 5 months of work, they were able to donate numbers of daily use items, clothes, and foods e.t.c to organizations that work to solve homeless issues in Tokyo.

By visiting the event calendar on our website, you can find various activities available to participate in. Weekly meetings of youth program are currently closed due to summer vacation period, however, they will soon start again.
