TEAM UNI-CON

TEAM UNI-CON originally started when its founder, Shinichi Mishiro, started a disaster recovery volunteer group named "TEAM UNION" after the 3.11 Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011.

Since then, the team has travelled across Japan more than 30 times whenever a major natural disaster has occurred, to places such as Miyagi, Fukushima, Kumamoto, Okayama, Fukuoka, Chiba prefectures and so on.

The group officially registered as an NPO in 2019, and changed its name to "TEAM UNI-CON".

    Message from TEAM UNI-CON

Our motto of voluntary work is:

"Do what you can do, at your own pace."

We believe that enjoyment is always the key factor in volunteering, and that is what makes volunteering valuable.   If you are interested in participating in our activities of voluntary works including the production of medical gowns, you can join us for an hour or two within your free time, and we hope to gradually expand our circle of activities following our mottos shown above.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our current main activity is limited to the production of hand-made medical gowns for distribution to public services (e.g. local hospital, council of local welfare and nursing facility all over Japan e.t.c.), where they are in need of PPE.   TEAM UNI-CON has held similar PPE-making events since 2020 and has been distributing protective equipment in support of disaster relief efforts.

We ask all of our participants to measure their body temperature every day before they attend an activity and bring their personal scissors to use to prevent sharing equipment.

All equipment used is thoroughly sanitized.

We mainly communicate in Japanese as our main language, however, there are some staff who can communicate in English to help any participants!

We hope to hear from you soon!
